The new season will be upon us before we know it and here at Exeter Chiefs excitement is already beginning to build ahead of what promises to be another big year of rugby at Sandy Park.

Already an incredible amount of work has been put in behind the scenes in preparation for the 2013/14 season, but there is still plenty to do and we need the support of the Chiefs family to ensure we remain the very best match-day experience in the Aviva Premiership.

With the Chiefs attracting average crowds of more than 8,500 for league and cup games last season, the need for match-day stewards has never been greater – and that is why Exeter's deputy chief executive Keiron Northcott is keen to boost the number of volunteers.

He said "Our match-day stewards put in a massive amount of effort last season and the club are very grateful for their help and assistance at all games. That said, our crowds have been rising significantly for a number of seasons now and it is vital we have enough volunteer stewards in place to help cover match days here at Sandy Park.

Under Premiership and European Rugby regulations, all stewards must either hold an NVQ Level Two in spectator safety or be working towards the qualification, which the Chiefs will fund, along with any other training requirements.

With Sandy Park also set to stage three Rugby World Cup matches in 2015, the club wish to stress at this point that only stewards in place for next season will be considered for any potential stewarding role during the World Cup.

In return for offering a helping hand, all volunteers are provided with a steward's season ticket, as well as refreshments on match days.
