It’s been an action-packed Easter period for the Exeter Chiefs Community team who have been out and about across the region delivering a series of ‘Train Like a Chief’ camps to local youngsters.
North Petherton RFC provided the first stop-off point for the team, who held a special two-day camp at the Somerset-based club. In what was a fun-filled two days of action, campers got to work specifically on their skills and drills such as handling, kicking and positional awareness, before they then tucked into areas around scrummaging, contact skills and body awareness.
Hot on the heels of that camp, the Community Chiefs headed to Bridport RFC for the first time ever, before the week finished off with a Centrax-sponsored day of action at Sandy Park.
The following week kicked off with two more days of action at Sandy Park, where the Community team welcome a fantastic turn out of 120 children, after which they were on the road again, this time visiting Tor RFC and Truro College.
Chiefs’ Community Development Manager, Andrew Dudley, said: “The Easter period has proved extremely busy for the team, but we’ve had a fantastic response from all the youngsters at each and every camp.
“It’s been great for us to get ourselves out and about across the Westcountry, including visiting venues that we’ve never been to before. Seeing the enjoyment on the faces of everyone is what it’s all about for us, but it’s great to see them all come away not only having improved aspect of their game, but also enthused by the coaching the team have been able to offer in all aspects of the modern-day game.”
