Chiefs dealt Williams injury blow

Exeter Chiefs Director of Rugby, Rob Baxter, is fearing the worst for prop Harry Williams after scans revealed he has sustained significant damage to his left knee in last weekend’s Gallagher Premiership clash with Harlequins.

The England international picked up the injury just 18 minutes into Big Game 14 at Twickenham and had to be replaced by Marcus Street at tight-head.

Asked to give an update in his weekly media briefing, Baxter said: “Harry looks as though he has a pretty significant injury. The scans aren’t good, but he will need to see a surgeon and that will then give us a better idea of things.”

The 31-year-old forward joined the Chiefs in 2015 from Championship side Jersey Reds. Since then, he has helped the club lift two Premiership Rugby titles, as well as the Heineken Champions Cup. He has featured 163 times for the Chiefs, scoring 18 tries in the process. He has also won 19 Test caps for England.
