Hooker Cliodhna Moloney says Exeter Chiefs Women are looking to build even further when they resume their Allianz Premier 15s campaign in the New Year.

Susie Appleby wrapped up their fixtures for 2022 by inflicting a 27-0 defeat on Harlequins in last Sunday's showdown at Sandy Park.

The bonus point victory not only ensured the Chiefs took their win streak in the league to four games but, more importantly, helped them to stay hot on the heels of unbeaten leaders Gloucester-Hartpury.

Irish international Moloney was on the scoresheet, as were Maisy Allen (2) and Hope Rogers, as the Chiefs produced a dominant first half display that left the visiting Londoners searching for answers.

"They were a bit unfortunate losing some players before the game," explained Moloney. "That said, we put in a great performance, especially considering the conditions. We knew they would be tough - and they were - and I've no doubt it will be much the same when we go up to London later in the season.

"It was, though, a bit of a statement win for us. We had a good win at Loughborough last week and we had targeted another win today. Now, it's more about how we build and adapt going into the New Year. All the teams are going to be stronger moving forward, especially as those World Cup stars come back in and teams start to gel better.

"We've had a few players back in recent weeks, but we've managed to reintegrate them in well and we'll look to get stronger in that second half of the season."
