Chiefs scoop up Saunders ahead of new Allianz PWR season
Exeter Chiefs Women have added versatile Molly Saunders to the squad ahead of the new season.
Formerly of Warriors Women, Saunders has been playing for her junior club, Sutton & Epsom RFC, ever since the demise of the Midlands outfit.
Before Warriors, Saunders played for Wasps, Richmond and Harlequins. The centre, who can also play at scrum-half, played sevens for Great Britian in Hamburg last year at the Rugby Europe Women's 7s Championship Series and was capped by England at U18s level.
Saunders said: “I’m really excited for the opportunity at Exeter this coming season. Exeter’s style of play is dynamic and emphasises the importance of skillset, making it a positive environment where I can learn and thrive as a player. The growth Exeter have shown over the last few seasons is something I’m really looking forward to being a part of, as well as enjoying the strong community support.”
Away from rugby, Saunders enjoys a beach volleyball and is a qualified personal trainer.
Head coach Susie Appleby said: “Where possible, we have been more than happy to find a place in our squad for players who were at Warriors. At just 23, Saunders has played a good standard of rugby and has a variety of life experience under her belt, so I think she will fit in well into the Chiefs culture where we work very hard but also try to have fun along the way.”
