Patricia Garcia says it’s with a heavy heart that she will bring the curtain down on her international career with Spain today.

The Exeter Chiefs Women’s star will run out for the final time for Las Leonas, when they tackle Russia in the final of the European Championship in Madrid (4pm CET).

Having represented her country for the past 12 years, including at the Olympics and four Rugby World Cups, Garcia is stepping away from the international arena, having played 42 times at 15s level and over 340 games with Spain’s Sevens side.

She is also in the Top 10 - and only European player - on the list of highest points-scorers in Sevens history, amassing a staggering 673 points.

Today, she will line-up alongside Exeter club-mate Laura Delgado in a Spain side looking to build on last weekend’s comprehensive victory over the Netherlands in the same competition.

Delgado will captain the side from the front-row, while Garcia will start in the centre.
