Jacoby all set for second stint at Sandy Park
Prop Charli Jacoby is on her way back to Sandy Park after a season with Queensland Reds.
USA Eagle Jacoby spent one season with Chiefs in the 2022/23 season in which she made 16 appearances following her debut against DMP Sharks.
The 34-year-old began her rugby career after she was approached by several players while she was taking part in cheerleading practice and told her she would be an asset at scrum-time. Having picked up the sport at 20, she has not looked back, earning herself 28 international caps and a place in the last Women’s Rugby World Cup.
She played for Loughborough Lightning before heading to the South West for her first stint with Exeter Chiefs before leaving for Australia to play in the Super Rugby Women’s, or Super W, competition. She was the first American to feature in the Super W.
Jacoby said: ““Exeter encouraged me to play some of my best rugby. Susie and Steve have created such an outstanding environment, and the girls feel like family.
“So, going into such an important year with the World Cup at the end, it only makes sense for me to return to my home away from home and play the best brand of rugby there is.
“I’m excited for next season because if there is one thing I know about this group of athletes, it’s that they have the determination and work ethic to continue to be a top-four team.”
Chiefs’ head coach Susie Appleby said: “Charli brings such value to our squad. She has an amazing ‘team first’ attitude, she’s a very powerful player and she has infectious energy. We can’t wait to have her back!”
