Exeter Chiefs star Jack Nowell has been ruled out of England’s final Quilter Autumn International against Australia on Saturday due to injury.

The 25-year-old back - who has featured in the wins against South Africa and Japan, as well as the narrow defeat to New Zealand - has sustained a hamstring injury in training.

Nowell did not train with Eddie Jones’ squad on Wednesday and his absence was confirmed this morning when England named their match-day squad for the visit of the Wallabies.

The Cornishman’s absence means Bath’s Joe Cokanasiga, who made his international debut in last weekend’s win against Japan, will fill the void on the wing.

With Nowell ruled out, it means Exeter will only have four representatives in the England side for Saturday’s showdown.Prop Ben Moon and centre Henry Slade will both start the game, while club-mates Alec Hepburn and Harry Williams are named on the bench.

As yet it’s not known the full extent of Nowell’s injury, but he is due to be assessed by the Chiefs medical staff in the next few days.
