Nye steps up for final Inter Services game

Exeter Chiefs Women’s scrum-half Lucy Nye will lead from the front when the RAF takes on the British Army Women at Kingsholm this Saturday.
Co-captain of the RAF Women’s team, Flight Lieutenant Nye will be hoping to build on the 36-10 win they secured over the Royal Navy Women at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens last month.
The Inter Services Championship is been played over three weekends with the men’s and women’s teams lining up for double headers. The Army v Navy game took place at the Allianz Stadium on May 3 with the Army Women beating the Navy 0-96.
The RAF have not beaten the Army since 2019, but Nye is still hopeful her team can pull out a result this weekend.
Nye said: “I am excited for this weekend’s game. The Inter Services Championship is very important to me, and it is always an honour to pull on the RAF jersey. We made a great start to the tournament against the Navy, but we are aware the Army will be a tougher challenge. We have trained well though and are committed to putting in our best performance, so let’s see what happens!”
Currently benefiting from a sabbatical from the force to be a full-time player for Exeter Chiefs, this will be Nye’s 15th appearance for the RAF
“I am so grateful for this time the RAF have granted me,” said Nye. “It has allowed me to spend more time concentrating on being a rugby player rather than trying to fit training around a busy job.”
Tickets for the Army v RAF double-header are available here. The women’s match kicks off at 11:00 followed by the men at 15:15.
