Salmon to leave for the Falcons

Toby Salmon says he will always indebted to the opportunities afforded to him by the staff and players at Exeter Chiefs.

The 26-year-old lock is to depart Sandy Park at the end of the season, having spent the past two seasons in Devon having joined Rob Baxter's squad from then Championship outfit, Rotherham Titans.

Part of the victorious Anglo-Welsh Cup winning squad in 2018, the Norfolk native - who scored at Kingsholm that day - has amassed 16 first-team appearances, scoring four tries in the process.

Next season, Salmon will be pulling on the colours of Newcastle Falcons, who today confirmed his move to Kingston Park.

Commenting on his move, Salmon said: "I've benefited hugely from being in the Chiefs environment. The coaches and the senior players down at Exeter have really brought me on and it has been a great environment to be part of.

"I've been lucky enough to share in some unbelievable moments at the club, including winning the Anglo-Welsh Cup last season, and I've also got to represent the Chiefs both in the Premiership and the Champions Cup.

"Now, I'm ready for this next challenge up at Newcastle. I've always viewed Newcastle as being a great team and a great set-up, and when I've spoken to people who've experienced it up there, that's exactly what they've said.

"The Falcons have a really good team culture which is evident whenever you watch them play, it's an exciting move for me and I'm looking forward to getting up there."
