Calling all young women’s rugby players here in the Westcountry…….the time has come to release your Inner Warrior!

Allianz Inner Warrior is England Rugby’s primary campaign to help recruit female players into their clubs. Warrior Camps are designed as a great introduction to rugby for those who have never played, or those who want to get back involved, and encourage more women and girls to play rugby.

Since they started, they have provided more than 20,000 women and girls with the opportunity to take part in rugby, and this is all thanks to the fantastic tribe of volunteers nationwide.

Now, Warriors Camps are coming to Exeter’s Sandy Park, starting with our first on Saturday, August 21. Headed up by Exeter Chiefs and Spain star, Patricia Garcia, girls aged between 10-17 will be able to learn from the professionals in a 90-minute training session.

Staged ahead of the Exeter Chiefs Women versus Wasps Ladies pre-season friendly, which kicks-off at 2pm, this is the perfect day for young girls from the region to hone their rugby skills.

Warrior Camps are great fun and hugely rewarding, encouraging you to challenge yourself and learn new skills alongside other like-minded females. Team sports and group activities are also a fantastic way to stay motivated with your fitness training and provide a great outdoor alternative.

The event – which is FREE to take part in and includes entry into the women’s game later in the day – starts with a 9am registration, before the training session gets underway just 30 minutes later. Included in the event will also be a guided tour of the Sandy Park facilities.

Speaking ahead of the upcoming event, Patricia said: “As a club we are very excited to kick-off the new season at home and we want to invite everyone to this big rugby party. With the Allianz Inner Warrior Camp, we want to promote the women’s game – not just with those that are already playing, but those who want to try this amazing game for the first time.

“The camp itself is free, as is the game later in the day, so we hope as many people as possible will join us on the day. Opportunities like this are brilliant as they are helping to develop the next generation of players. We are thankful to Allianz for their support in the programme and hope it will continue to go from strength to strength.”
