Sister Act II: The Robinsons join Exeter Chiefs Women
Head coach Susie Appleby has signed a second set of sisters ahead of the 2024/25 season, welcoming back scrum-half Flo Robinson in the process.
Flo will bring her sister Emily with her this time as they both depart from Harlequins Women. They will join Feaunati sisters Maddie and Zara as the second sibling pairing in the squad.
Younger sister Flo, aged 22, has already made 65 appearances for Chiefs, scoring eight tries in the process and contributing to both league and cup games. Called up to the Red Roses squad in 2021, she is a talented number nine who was immensely popular during her previous three seasons at Sandy Park.
She said: “I am really excited to come back, I know I love the team and the environment, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve next year.
“I want to be the best player I can be, and I know Exeter is a great place for me to do that. Having Emily come with me is great. I’m excited to see how she enjoys the South West.”
Meanwhile, flanker Emily began life as a professional player for Quins in 2019 having come through the development side. The only girl in the team at Hove Rugby Club, she was also a talented discus thrower and went on to captain Sussex Schools for athletics in the English Schools Championship.
The 23-year-old, who is also a fully trained carpenter, was called up by Red Roses in the same season as her sister.
Emily said: “I really can’t wait for the new challenge and to move down to Chiefs to start pre-season. The history and success of the club is something I have always admired. I will do my best as I want to contribute everything I can to growing myself as a player and to the team.”
Appleby said: “We felt one Robinson was just not enough! We obviously know all about Flo and she knows us, so will hopefully easily slot back into the squad here at Sandy Park. We are also excited to welcome Emily too. Emily has been a thorn in our side for several seasons, I’m really looking forward to having her on our side of the ball!
“I feel both Flo and Emily are going to be a huge benefit for us. They are great players and we are going to have a lot of fun!”
