Exeter Chiefs Director of Rugby, Rob Baxter, says Sam Skinner is likely to be fit for Scotland's Six Nations campaign, having return to training with the Gallagher Premiership club.

The 24-year-old forward has been on the sidelines since late August, after injuring his hamstring playing for his country in their Rugby World Cup warm-up clash with France at Murrayfield.

The injury meant Skinner was forced not only to sit out last summer's Rugby World Cup in Japan, but spend the subsequent weeks and months working his way back to full fitness after undergoing surgery.

"Sam's got back remarkably well, he's worked extremely hard," said Baxter. "He could potentially be available for next week.

"The length of time he's had out, to drop him straight into a Heineken Cup game I would doubt we would look to do that, but we do have an A League game a week on Monday which could well see him feature."

Skinner has won six Test caps for Scotland since making his debut against Fiji in November 2018.
