Exeter Chiefs and England star Henry Slade has been nominated for two awards at next month’s Plymouth Herald Sports Personality of the Year Awards.

Plymouth-born Slade – who has enjoyed a memorable 2017, which included him helping the Chiefs to lift the Aviva Premiership for the first time and add to his tally of international caps with England – is one of six nominees for the top prize on the night.

He is joined on the shortlist by swimmer Ben Proud, footballer Graham Carey, cricketer Heather Knight, diver Tom Daley and rower Jacob Dawson.

Slade is also in the running for the ‘Champagne Moment of the Year’. The judging panel has selected his kick for touch in last season’s Premiership semi-final win over Saracens as one of four highlights of the past year.

The Herald Sports Awards will take place at the Plymouth Pavilions on Monday, January 29.
