Exeter Chiefs hooker Emily Tuttosi took her try tally at this year’s Rugby World Cup to five as she scored twice in Canada’s 22-12 victory over Italy in Pool B.

Having helped herself to a hat-trick in Canada’s opening win over Japan, Tuttosi was at it again for her country, who fell behind early in their game at the Waitakere Stadium in Auckland to a try from Vittoria Ostuni Minuzzi.

Parity was soon restored with a converted try from winger Paige Farries, before Turrosi powered her way over just before the break to give Canada a 12-5 lead at the turn.

Just five minutes had been played in the second half when Canada extended their lead through Sara Kaljuvee, before Tuttosi claimed her second of the game just minutes later.

With both sides emptying their benches over the course of the half, it was Italy - who included Chiefs newcomer Silvia Turani in their starting line-up - who had the final say, courtesy of a late score from Elisa Giordano, converted by Michela Sillari.

Lining up alongside Tuttosi for the Canadians were club-mate DeLeaka Menin and former Chiefs McKinley Hunt and Olivia De Merchant, the latter of whom was making her 50th Test appearance.
