Josh Caulfield, Billy Keast and Harry Strong are among a clutch of Exeter Chiefs youngsters who have agreed dual-registered terms with Championship side Cornish Pirates for the upcoming season.

The talented trio are heading back to the Mennaye Field having spent last season in the Duchy on similar terms.

They will be joined in the ranks by fellow Chiefs James McRae, Hary Skinner, Jake Clemson and Luke Flack, the latter two of whom come from the club's Under-18s side.

Academy Manager Rob Gibson said: "Getting our young academy players out and playing regular rugby is a key part of their development. Over the years our association with the Pirates has proved a 'win-win' for both clubs and has helped to mould some outstanding rugby players.

"Obviously Josh, Billy and Harry have benefitted greatly from playing for the Pirates in the Championship and we're confident they - and the other four players - will continue to flourish over the coming season."

In the past, first team stars such as Dave Ewers, Sam Hill, Sam Simmonds, Stuart Townsend and Jack Yeandle have all cut their rugby teeth featuring for the Cornish club in the Championship.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are due to tackle the Pirates in their first pre-season fixture at the Mennaye Field on Friday, August 17 (7:30pm). Tickets for this game can be bought by clicking here
