It was smiles all round as over 100 children descended on Sandy Park this week for the latest Exeter Chiefs Community Summer Camp.

One of a number of camps being held across the region during the summer months, youngsters not only got to their hone their rugby skills in the sunshine, but they got to sample life in and around the Gallagher Premiership club.

Developed and designed by our team of professional coaches using the most up-to-date techniques, the two-day course gave campers aged between 6-14 the perfect experience and insight into the modern-day game.

Not only did they get to work on their basic skill-set, but areas such as defence, decision-making, offloading and game awareness were also covered by the coaches in a range of activities and match-like scenarios.

As always, the key focus was on encouraging and inspiring the young players to become the best they can be and to reach their full potential.

Commenting on the camp, Community Development Manager, Andrew Dudley, said: “It’s been another hugely successful camp here at the club. Not only are the children really responsive to everything that I and the coaches say, but they have a real willingness to learn and develop their game.

“Grassroots rugby like this is where every single professional player started, so it’s vitally important for clubs like the Chiefs to help pass on their knowledge and expertise.”

There are further Summer Camps coming up over the next few weeks at Tor RFC, North Petherton RFC and Redruth RFC, as well as another one at Sandy Park.
