Katie Buchanan started playing rugby at school and made her Chiefs debut in September 2022. With her agility and speed, she has already scored plenty of tries for the club. She was part of the Chiefs side that won 2022/23 Allianz Cup, as well as playing in the Allianz 15s semi-final versus Saracens at Sandy Park.
Buchanan made her England U20s debut against Scotland in March 2023, playing alongside Chiefs teammates Maisy Allen, Nancy McGillivray, Niamh Orchard and Sophie Langford. After her successful England U20s campaign, she was one of six players to receive an England transition contract.
The speedster was named Exeter Chiefs Women’s Young Player of the Year and the Supporters’ Club Player of the Year for the 2023/24 season.
Buchanan said: “Sandy Park and the Chiefs family have really become a home for me. I have learned and grown so much in my time here already and can’t wait to see what the future holds for me in Devon. I am super excited to get the ball rolling next season and see what new levels the team can reach!”
