A new recruit at the Exeter Chiefs at the start of the 2022/23 season, the gifted New Zealander quickly settled into her new surroundings on the other side of the world.
Equally adept playing at fly-half or centre, McGoverne made her debut for the Devon club in their Allianz Cup encounter away to DMP Sharks in September 2022 - and was been a mainstay of Susie Appleby's first-team plans for the rest of the season. A proven goalkicker with an eye for a try, the Christchurch-born back - who arrived from Matatū - first started playing rugby at high school at the age of 13. Since then, she has developed her game year on year and believes her move to the Northern Hemisphere has helped add to her skill-set, particularly tackling some of the best names in the game in the Allianz Premier 15s.
McGoverne returned to Matatū for the 2023/24 season but now she is back for more Chiefs time!
She said: “I have joined Exeter Chiefs again because I want to be playing in the PWR as I believe it’s the best competition in the world.
“I love this club and the environment we had when I was last here. I’ve never felt a buzz like playing in front of a home crowd at Sandy Park, so I can’t wait to have that feeling again! I feel like we have unfinished business, so I’m really excited for the season ahead to see what we can do.”
