Olly Woodburn

Now into his ninth year at Sandy Park, wing Olly Woodburn has been a revelation in the colours of Exeter Chiefs following his move from rivals Bath ahead of the 2015/16 season.

Woodburn joined Bath’s Academy in 2010 having been schooled at Colston’s in Bristol. He made his senior debut for the club a year later in the LV= Cup, scoring within two minutes against the Newport-Gwent Dragons.

Woodburn remained in place at the Recreation Ground for the next four years, featuring for the first team in not only the Premiership and LV= Cup, but also European competitions. However, first team opportunities for the gifted winger proved somewhat restrictive and in 2015 he sought a new challenge with Chiefs.

He enjoyed a hugely successful first season at Sandy Park, helping the club to reach a first-ever Premiership final at Twickenham, as well as bagging eight tries in 24 appearances. Three of those scores came in a man-of-the-match display at home to rivals Worcester Warriors.

If season one in Devon proved fruitful, the following year was even more of a success for Woodburn, who not only helped the Chiefs to lift the Premiership title against Wasps, but also picked up the club’s Player of the Year award and was nominated for the Premiership’s Player of the Year accolade.

Since then, the talented flyer has continued to prosper, helping Chiefs to lift a second Premiership title in 2020 with victory over Wasps at a rain-soaked Twickenham.

Now with over 175 first team appearances to his name, Woodburn has also surpassed 50 tries for the club.
