Scott Sio
Scott Sio signed with Chiefs on a long-term deal during the summer of 2022, giving the Australian international his first taste of club rugby away from his homeland.
Having spent the previous 12 seasons at the ACT Brumbies, gaining 143 appearances, Sio was a huge signing for the Chiefs in every sense – bringing not only size and physique, but a wealth of experience at the highest level.
A powerhouse in the set-piece, his ball-carrying around the park is another huge asset of his game, which he has utilised well during his time playing in the Gallagher Premiership and Heineken Champions Cup.
With 74 caps for the Wallabies, he was the latest in a string of Australians who had moved to Sandy Park in recent years.
The front-rower, who originally got into the sport to follow in his father’s footsteps, named the 2013 Super Rugby Grand Final with the Brumbies as one of his career highlights.
The move to Exeter however was viewed by Sio as something new, something fresh which afforded him a new challenge. Having been at the Brumbies for so long, The Premiership has been a different challenge for Sio who had played in England and Europe before at Test level, but not domestically.
