Heading to Sandy Park ahead of the 2023/24 season, former Newcastle Falcons and Wasps fly-half, Will Haydon-Wood returned to England and the Gallagher Premiership after a spell in France with Pro D2 side, Massy Essonne.
The young playmaker is no stranger to English rugby’s top-flight and his addition was another boost for the Chiefs back-line.
Having started the 2022/23 season at Wasps following a number of years as a Falcon, Haydon-Wood was forced to look for new employment when the Midlands club withdrew from all competitions following their financial collapse.
Like many, Haydon-Wood headed across the Channel to Massy. However, the lure of returning to the Premiership was a key factor in him deciding to make the switch to Chiefs.
Haydon-Wood’s arrival certainly fit the bill in terms of Baxter’s future planning and the development of a youth-centred squad.
